Now days China is always a tourist place people love to visit China to see their special attractions.Their special attractions are their traditions, casinos, temples, clothings, food and shopping. They celebrate new year for 15 days in these 15 days they invite all their relatives and they also go to their relatives houses. All the food is cooked on the last day day of the old year on fourteenth day they do not cook on fifteenth day. Knifes and scissors are not used as they might cut the good luck. They do not clean their houses on the new year they believe that the good luck will go by cleaning.

I like the idea of travelling leisurely. It gives you the opportunity to explore at your own pace, enjoy the local meals and take photos of the new places you are visiting. Call me romantic when it comes to travel time, as a matter of fact, I am..hehe!

But being a very particular person, I always check out as much as possible about the new places I want to go by reading about them on the net and asking about them in the travel forums. I know sometimes it is not really that accurate but still it gives a lot of insight about the place and its surroundings and any new developments that otherwise is not yet advertised or known to many. Few people think that knowing a lot about a place before visiting it, takes out the real fun and adventure out of it. But hey, the real fun for me begins when you go beyond what everyone knows. So, if you want adventure try to reach the place and explore something new. Knowing about the place will help you to be adventurous and safe at the same time. At least I know what to expect and what not once I reach the destination.

Hopefully this year we could make it somewhere romantic and nice.

Our all boys trip to Prashar lake. This was a trip with a mission to hoist national flag at Prashar Lake on 26th January 2009. These are the pics of Prashar Lake. Prashar Lake is a high-altitude lake located in the Mandi district, about 2730 metres above sea level. The road from Mandi to Prashar lake is in really a bad shape. But since we all were boys (men without families accompanying them), we enjoyed the rough drive. We expected to see snow at Prashar lake but were disappointed.

People at Prashar lake told us that usually there is 3-4 feet of snow during January. But this year there was absolutely no snowfall. Looks like there is an effect of recession on the mother nature too or is it alarming global warming effect.

As you can see in the pictures below, there is absolutely no snow in Prashar in winters. I never expected Prashar Lake to be like this in winters. When I saw images of this lake on google, I was really impressed to see the lake surrounded by snow clad mountains.

After a long rough drive and such a disappointment, the only good thing to have at Prashar was a cup of nice masala tea and maggie.

As per our plan, after resting for few mins we hoisted Indian National flag at Prashar Lake.
We started bit early today from Manali and reached Solang Valley at around 10 am. It was a beautiful sunny morning and there were lots of people at Solang Valley today. It looked completely different with so many Paragliders flying in the air. We did Paragliding from the topmost point which was Rs.800 per head. The walk to the top was really tiring but once we took off it was awesome. The view of snow clad mountains and the valley below with lots of people looking up was really mind blowing. The flight lasts for around 90 secs. Kids enjoyed Zorbing once again.

Yesterday we went to Solang Valley. Its just 25 mins drive from Manali. It was a rainy day. There are many sports activities to enjoy like Zorbing, bike riding, horse riding and paragliding. Beware of touts and the local agents who try to charge you double the rate. People are not very friendly and try to cheat a lot. There is a lot of bargaining. Zorbing is Rs.150 per person and 2 people sit in the Big Ball for Zorbing. Paragliding starts from Rs.600 to Rs.1000 depending on the height, but I thing it is also negotiable. For kids its Rs.500 but its not worth it. We couldn’t do Paragliding because it started raining heavily.

Location : About 30 kms from Bangalore Majestic.

Facilities : The rooms have a nice hall with a tv, dining area, kitchenette, bathroom, large sit-out facing a valley, bedroom with attached bathroom, small sit-out. (all rooms are the same I heard). The rooms are air-conditioned, but the weather is quite pleasant in that area. The resort has a swimming pool, both for adults and children. They provide swimwear on rent too. They have two flood-lit tennis courts, a squash court, and many indoor games. There is also a play room for small kids (and baby-sitters too). There are sprawling lawns, gardens and walkways. Excellent landscaping and very, very clean. The staff were very courteous and friendly. There is a library and a huge pub too. The resort is pretty crowded on weekends, but mostly families come only for a day or as office outings, or for business reasons.

Spa : The spa is awesome. They have Thai/Swedish and Ayurvedic massage parlours. The massage rooms are comfortable with two tables (for couples) with good ventilation and soft soothing music. They give hot ginger tea after the massage which I think is refreshing. The ambience is awesome. The masseuses are from Thailand and have been hired from an agency in Phuket. We had the first experience of a massage at Bangkok. The foot massage there was awesome! Of course, anyday, Thailand is better!! They also have some fancy facilities like hydro-bath, roman bath, spinal bath, jacuzzi and ayurvedic massages, which we were not inclined to try.
