A two-time Academy Award winner, American actor Kevin Spacey who is also a director is regarded as one of the versatile actors of Hollywood. Kevin was born on 26th July, 1959 in South Orange in New Jersey. He joined the Julliard School in New York City for studying drama. Spacey who grew up in California started his career as a stage actor in 80s before joining films and television. He joined films and television as a supporting actor. In the early 90s, Kevin shot to fame and was critically acclaimed for his movie ‘The Usual Suspects’ , he even got Oscars in the supporting actor category for his performance in the film. Spacey has starred in many hit films of Hollywood; the movie ‘American Beauty’ which was released in 1999 gave him his second Academy Award in the best actor category.
His noted films include ‘Se7ev’, ‘Pay it Forward’, ‘L.A. Confidential’, he played the villain Lex Luthor in the movie ‘Superman Returns’. He became the artistic director of the Old Vic theatre which is in London in 2003. His first stage appearance professionally was in New York Shakespeare Festival as a messenger in the play Henry VI, part I in the year 1981. in the following year , he appeared in Henrik Ibsen’s ‘Ghosts’ which was a Broadway production. In the second season of ‘Crime Story’ Kevin made his first television appearance as pro Kennedy American senator. The film ‘The Usual Suspects’ made him a A-listed actor of Hollywood. With the film ‘Albino Alligator’, Kevin made his directorial debut in 1996.
