The most fragile of all relationships is the daughter-in-law and mother-in-law relationship. The problem or the tension to be precise between the two has their seeds germinating much before the marriage. The bride-to-be always have the dilemma that whether she will be liked by her would-be-mother-in-law and vice versa. The main problem that arises between a mother-in-law and her daughter-in-law is interference. It is often complained that mothers-in-laws continue interfering in the lives of their sons even after marriages. This however no daughter-in-laws will tolerate, it causes a breach of the privacy between the husband and the wife. The mothers think that they still have the control over their sons’ lives, which unfortunately is not true. After the son’s marriage their mothers should not intrude in their lives.

The second problem is constant criticism by the in-laws. The daughters-in-law always find being criticized by their in-laws which is however not always right. This makes them feel misunderstood, hurt and angry. The mothers should make it clear that after being mothers-in-law, they will not enjoy the same privileges as they used to when their sons were bachelors. Leave alone dropping in whenever the mothers want in their sons homes, they will no longer be able to suggest anything, call the married son freely, at least for a year. Mothers-in-law should try not to criticize their daughters-in-law. On the contrary, they should to be more polite and friendly. The daughters-in-law should try to make efforts for bettering the relationship and should be helpful and attentive. This potentially beautiful relationship needs respect and kindness.
