Robert De Niro

One of the greatest actors of all times is the American film actor Robert De Niro. This two-time Academy Award winner was born on August 17 in 1943, besides being a versatile actor, Robert is also a director and film producer. Robert is mainly known for his portrayal of conflicted and also troubled roles. Robert was born in New York, he attended the Little Red School House first then joined High School of Music and Art in New York. His first film was ‘The Wedding Party’ directed by Brian De Palma. Most of days in 1960s were spent in theatre workshops and off-Broadway productions. Robert became popular with his role as a dying Major League baseball player in the 1973 release ‘Bang the Drum Slowly. Robert has appeared in many memorable films, his best known roles are the young Vito Corleone in ’The Godfather Part II’, cabbie Travis Bickle in ‘Taxi Driver’, boxer Jake La Motta in ‘Raging Bull’ and mobsters Jimmy Conway in ‘Goodfellas’ and Al Capone in ‘The Untouchables’. His performance of young Vito won him the Academy Award in the best supporting category and became the first actor ever to win an Academy Award speaking a foreign language. Robert appeared with Gerard Depardieu and Donald Sutherland in the epic biographical exploration of life during the World War II, ‘Novecento (1900)’. In the year 1993, Robert made his directorial debut with the film ‘A Bronx Tale’. He has also won an Academy Award for the movie ‘Raging Bull’, released in 1980.
